Tom Daniel
Director, North America Sustainable Ag, Nutrien Ag Solutions
Tom grew up on the family farm in Christian County, Kentucky where he was involved in raising tobacco (dark fired and burley), corn, beef cattle, and hay. He attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a degree in agricultural economics in 1981.
After graduation, Tom took his first role in retail as the cooperative manager of Henderson Southern States in Henderson Kentucky. In 1983, Tom took a territory sales role with BASF before eventually serving in varied roles of sales and marketing until 1999 with BASF. In late 1999, Tom was offered an opportunity to join a new start-up farm retail organization, Security Seed and Chemical. Starting with four retail locations, two in Kentucky and two in Tennessee, the company grew over the next 20 years to 14 retail outlets serving customers in five states. At the time of Security Seed’s acquisition by Nutrien Ag Solutions, Tom was the Vice President of Marketing with oversight responsibilities for Security Seed’s proprietary product line development, research and demonstration farm, and precision ag product development.
In January of 2019, Tom joined Nutrien Ag Solutions as the Integration Lead for the newly acquired Security Seed and Chemical and remained in that role until May of 2020 at which time he took the position he now holds as Director of the North America Retail Sustainable Ag team.
