Curriculum Development Extension Educator, Purdue Extension

Austin Pearson is a Curriculum Development Educator and Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension Educator for Purdue Cooperative Extension Service. He completed his B.S. and M.S. in Agronomy specializing in Applied Meteorology and Climatology from Purdue University. He has organized and taught over 370 learning events reaching over 15,000 participants in his five years with Extension. He co-developed an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Technology program focusing on remote pilot knowledge test preparation, uses and applications of the technology in agriculture, and common troubleshooting techniques. More recently, Pearson co-developed an experiential digital agriculture curriculum teaching high school students technological skills needed in the agriculture industry, which includes data management, geographic information systems (GIS), internet of things (IoT), and UAV technology. The curriculum is being piloted at five Indiana high schools and career centers beginning in fall 2021. In his personal time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two kids.
