Bill Chism is the chair of the Endangered Species Act Committee of the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA). Our committee is developing education and outreach materials to help growers, extension, and pesticide users understand the endangered species act. He is also working with Dr. Stanley Culpepper to develop a structured label format for pesticides to make them easier to read and understand. Bill grew up working on a vegetable farm in the Salinas Valley of California. He worked for the California Extension, a pesticide registrant, and retired after 22 years with the Biological and Economic Analysis Division, Office of Pesticide Programs, EPA. He has a Ph.D. in Weed Science from VA Tech, M.S. degrees in Agriculture and Plant Physiology, and a B.S. in Entomology. Bill lives with his wife, a cat, two dogs, and two horses in Maryland.
