Professor of Digital Agriculture and Director of the Agronomy e-Learning Academy, Purdue University

Bruce Erickson is Professor of Digital Agriculture and the Director of the Agronomy e-Learning Academy at Purdue University. His online classes for working professionals include Agronomy Essentials, Precision Agriculture, and Nutrient Management, with over 3000 course completions since 2015. He also leads a group teaching a resident undergraduate data science course. Erickson is responsible for the annual the CropLife/Purdue Precision Dealer Survey and is Associate Editor of the journal Natural Sciences Education.

Erickson earned bachelors and masters degrees at Iowa State University and a PhD from Purdue. He started his career with Pioneer Hi-Bred (now Corteva) in Iowa. After his PhD he worked as Senior Technical Designer at Agribusiness Group in Indianapolis, then served as Education Manager for the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), where he developed and delivered online classes and was responsible for the International Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) Exam and the Tri-State Exam. In 2018 he was awarded the Educator/Researcher Award of Excellence from the Precision Ag Alliance. He was the primary author for the 2020 Best Paper for the journal Natural Sciences Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in the Precision Agriculture Workforce: An Industry Survey and co-author for the 2021 Best Paper for Agronomy Journal, Setting the Record Straight on Precision Agriculture Adoption.
